The Great Debaters: Reigniting a Legacy documents the journey of the Wiley College debate team through the eyes of two student debaters as they compete in the first HBCU National Debate Tournament. This story explores the legacy of debate at Wiley College that was reintroduced to the world in the 2008 film, The Great Debaters: Reigniting a Legacy.  The viewer gets to see the impact of this film that led to national visibility, increased enrollment and the reestablishment of the team that is now recognized as one of the best in the country.

​Viewers are introduced to the various stories that brought these students into this unique form of competition while learning about the transformative impact it has had on their lives and others. This journey will lead to the culminating event of the National Debate Championships at Wiley College along with the Ten-Year Reunion Ceremony of The Great Debaters: Reigniting a Legacy that took place on the same weekend. In partnership with The National Debate and Speech Association, NPF will use this film to engage high school and college students while promoting the newly formed HBCU Speech and Debate League.
